Hi, I am Dr. Tirthankar Dasgupta, a psychiatrist from Moner Alo Clinic. In this Covid-19 situation, different questions have been received from different people. A common question everyone gets is how to overcome boredom or apathy in such situations. I can share with you some tips to see if it works for you. Make a to-do list and try to do it daily accordingly. It will also help keep your brain fresh for your mental health.

As we discussed earlier in this Sense of Empowerment, as much as this stuff exists, a Feel Good effect starts to come in. So take a look at it.

Another tip I can give you that, involve yourself in some cleaning activities at this time. Clean your home shelf. If you have a garage, you should clean the garage. Adjust the old files. Get out of your unused clothes from the wardrobe. Then pack up all the garbage in your drawer or whatever messy things you have in it. Don’t take these things lightly. Because I would say that as a psychiatrist, each of these affects your brain. It turns out that the brain doesn’t like to work in a messy or unorganized situation. If we work in a randomly messy environment for a long time, our cognitive performance gets reduced, particularly by working memory. So we’re helping to boost cognitive performance by tapping into these things. That actually happens to us unknowingly. So you can try it once to avoid boredom.

As I have said before, those who do not have a knack for this matter can try this situation at this time to keep themselves busy with cooking activity. If the cooking activity or cooking techniques can be recovered at this time, they also inspire your executive function. Because learning how to cook a menu, how to cook a meal and eating with the whole family, many parts of your brain work together to follow this whole procedure. Due to these factors such as planning, organization, execution, and finally reaching, the various parts of the brain work together in parallel. These executive areas are inspired by all of this. So you can try it out there to avoid boredom

Also, another tip that I have said before again is Helping Others. If you can join in the social service or work side by side in this time of trouble, helping others selflessly or helping others in a self-sustaining way is also motivating in some areas. Some areas, such as the ventral striatum, septal area are stimulated in these places, have been observed. And frightening parts like Amygdala etc. They stop firing, meaning they are not stimulated, they rather degrow, the areas become smaller but it will take some time, of course. It is not a matter of one day.

Another may be learning or reading something new this time. Stay in the book, educating yourself. Gain new knowledge. Those who are interested can focus on some beauty treatments at the time. Hair color changing or any beauty treatment, just a tip. It boosts your Emotional Health Positively. You can try it once.

Then one of the tips can be meditation. I call it the Alpha wave booster. Alpha wave is a brain wave that is created in the brain when people are relaxed. Through meditation, it is created in the brain. And through it, you will feel much relaxed and calm. Also, the physical parameters get better. Blood pressure gets reduced, blood sugar gets reduced. All, in the long run, One day maintaining this does not change everything, I am saying it repeatedly.

Do exercise. Walk on the terrace, walk in the garden, walk on the porch. Do yoga exercises. Flex your hands and feet, stretch the joints. These result in the release of a hormone or chemical called BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) from the brain, which also helps in branching and branching of the brain’s nervous system. The more the branching branch, the greater the ability to handle external stress or stress-related problems. As fewer branches or branches are pruned, the ability to absorb stress decreases. That is, stress anxiety comes with depression anxiety. So you can try it once to avoid boredom

Gardening can be an activity. Communication with nature enhances your positive emotional health. View old photos, scan and place them somewhere. Old-fashioned photos evoke old memories. Tour Pictures. See old pictures. It might create some discussion in this context. They also extend to Positive Emotional Health.

Then some hobbies or skills can develop into something new this time. It will stimulate your executive function just like that of cooking through any new skills. Here are some general tips for the general population at this time, for all people.

But remember that these tips will not work for everyone. Vulnerable people, already suffering from mental problems, such as depression, anxiety, infectious disease or OCD, Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, not for those suffering from these diseases. They have to be prescribed medicines, take medicines, and counseling. If you feel an emergency please contact the nearest Mental Health Professional Psychiatrist or Psychologist. Everyone is on your side. We are all on your side. Be careful, maintain all kinds of hygienic practice this time. Stay safe at home and try to practice these things and try to avoid boredom coming into your life.

Thank You!!
