Hello, this is Dr. Tirthankar Dasgupta, a psychiatrist from the Moner Alo clinic. Today we will discuss how to handle kids around the house during this COVID-19 lockdown period.

As nowadays they don’t have much to do like going to school, playing at the park, gossiping with friends, you may find kids miserable during this lockdown situation. Some of the kids don’t know how to react in this period. You may get some kids as stressful or unsteady or fugitive.

I am going to share a few points with you to help you on how to engage kids in this COVID-19 lockdown situation.

Firstly, we have to create a schedule for these kids. They should have a clear picture of their mind how to divide works with time. They should know when to study when to watch TV when to eat when to sleep. Kids get more disciplined and more focused by planning their day according to the schedule for daily works.

Secondly, kids should do creative things. For example, painting, drawing, paper cutting, origami, writing, singing, etc. This helps to make kids’ brain stronger. I would like to suggest that parents also should join kids to do these creative things together. These can increase the bonding between parents and kids too.

Thirdly, kids don’t have any chance to play these days. So it’s important to involve kids with physical activities. Make your kid Run or exercise. The more we engage with these physical activities, the more our brain gets boost up.

The last and most important point is a bit psychological. Give your kids Hope. All these situations are new to them. They easily might get confused. but it’s your responsibility to tell them that it’s just a bad phase or a hard time we are going through. But eventually, we will pass through this hard time too. This has a psychological effect on Brain. By giving them positive Vibes and positive thoughts, it will contribute to the Brain nervous system tremendous positive effect.

The simplest way to handle kids is to engage kids with some works during COVID-19. I genuinely believe if you follow these points you will be able to engage them with positive tasks along with positive effects on Brain.

Stay safe and stay at home. Thank you!!
